Book & Author Details: Title:Snowball’s Christmas Kristen McKanagh Published by: Kensington Publication date: September 29th 2020 Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance Synopsis: The Purrfect holiday awaits… Snowball–an aptly named bundle of feline fluff–is thankful to be spending her first Christmas in the comfort of Weber Haus, the Victorian B&B run by Miss Tilly. Emily Diemer, who cooks for the guests, dotes on Snowball, but she’s not thrilled about another new arrival at the B&B: Miss Tilly’s nephew, Lukas. Which is odd, because Snowball’s animal instincts tell her that Lukas and Emily should definitely be friends. Everything Emily needs is in this quaint community–including, she hopes, the chance to open her own bakery one day. She doesn’t think much of Lukas for leaving his aging aunt to struggle while he jets around the world taking photographs. But now that he’s here, helping to spruce up the property and getting mixed up in Snowball’s antics, she begins to soften a little. Until she learns what he has planned… Lukas is going to sell Weber Haus so that Miss Tilly can retire. But Snowball is certain that this B&B, and these people, are supposed to be her forever home. Somehow she has to get these stubborn humans to see things through the wisdom of a cat’s eye and a kitten’s loyal, loving heart… Goodreads Purchase Links Amazon / B&N / Apple / Kobo / Google AUTHOR BIO:

Book Synopsis:
The third book in the Highland, Georgia romantic comedy series from Laura Trentham, A Highlander is Coming to Town, full of love, laughs...and highlanders! You better watch out. . . Holt Pierson is dreading Christmas. His parents absconded to Florida for the season and left him to handle the family farm which will be his one day―whether he wants it or not. Driven by duty, Holt has always followed the path expected of him. But lately, he’s been questioning what he wants and where he belongs. Will assuming the responsibility of the Pierson farm make him happy or is there something―or someone―else out in the wider world calling to him? To Claire Smythe, the Scottish lead singer of a touring band, Highland, Georgia, is the perfect place to hide . . .until a very handsome and deeply curious Holt begins to ask all the questions Claire doesn’t want to answer. As Holt draws Claire out from under and into the fabric of small-town life, can Claire put the past behind her and embrace the unexpected gifts of the season―including the new and lasting love? My thoughts: This is such a delightful series: lighthearted, sweet, romantic, and kind. Ever since I read the first book, I've been waiting to hear Holt pierson's story. It was clear that he is a great person, but this doesn't always guarantee being lucky in love. Well, things are going to change this Christmas, because there is a highlander in town and she might be just what Holt has been waiting for all his life. We met Claire Smythe in Book 2. She was a lead singer of a band that performed during the Highland Games. Claire is running away from something or someone. When the town preacher introduces her to eighty year old, frail but feisty Mrs Meadows who needs a live-in caregiver after her unfortunate fall, Claire grabs the opportunity to weather the storm in her life, and perhaps reflect on what really matters to her. Holt Pierson's father has unsuccessfully tried to buy Mrs Meadows' land, so there is no love lost between the two neighbours. Still, Holt has nothing to do with their dispute. All he knows is that he should have checked on his elderly neighbour to see if she needed his help. After all, Holt has been raised to be kind, responsible and considerate, something Claire can't help but be attracted to. What I love about this whole series is the town and it's inhabitants. One of the bigger questions these books are grappling with is the sense of belonging. What makes a place home? Claire never felt this type of community spirit and willingness to go an extra mile to help somebody out, even if they are barely more than a total stranger. Claire grew up in the place where appearances were more important than genuine affections and everybody seemed to have an agenda. It isn't easy 'to forge your own path' in this kind of environment, but Claire is determined to make her own choices. My favourite scenes in the book are that of Claire and Holt's first date and the scene where he is teaching her to milk cows. There is something sweet about this couple. Things might have been developing fast between them, but you do get a feeling that they are at the stage of their life where they have changed and are ready for something new and serious. I hope the author continues with this series as every single book in it has been fun to read. Having said that, it is difficult to say whose story might be next (Claire's cousin Lachlan?) and of course, I'd love to know how the couples from the previous books are doing. I'll be looking forward to Highland, Georgia #4. Thank you to NetGalley and St.Martin's for the ARC provided in exchange for an honest opinion. From the book blurb:
A perfect gift that captures the spirit of the season, USA Today bestselling author Nancy Naigle’s A Heartfelt Christmas Promise celebrates the holidays, small-town traditions, and the generosity of love between two lost souls who find everything they ever wanted in each other. My thoughts: Nancy Naigle is quickly becoming one of my favourite romance authors. I enjoyed A Heartfelt Christmas Promise as much as Nancy's previous book Christmas angels. She has a special gift of writing sweet heart-warming stories, perfect for the Christmas season. Vanessa Larkin was hoping to spend Christmas in the City of Light. oh, it wouldn't have been a romantic break, just a business trip, still Paris is Paris. You can imagine her disappontment when she gets sent to a little town in North Carolina to close a fruitcake factory and make its local employees redundant. Not an envious task at any time, but when you have to do it at Christmas... The problem is that Porter's, the fruitcake factory isn't just any business. It is central to the Frazier Hills community, and losing it is going to be a big blow to the town. Mike Marshall is a rancher with a teenage daughter who he is raising alone. He understands the importance of Porter's for the soul and identity of the town. Is what happens later in the story a bit predictable? Perhaps...I prefer to call it the book has all the right elements for a Christmas story! There are sweet, but lonely protagonists, there's small town setting, which means that people know and care about each other and have stronger community ties, and of course, there's the plot which involves the protagonists' realisation of what is really important in life. And of course there is a happily ever after, no reader of a great Christmas story is ever going to complain about. A Heartfelt Christmas Pormise is a lovely enjoyable read and I hope it will make a great Hallmark movie one day. Thank you to NetGalley and St.Martin's Griffin for the review copy. Thank you to Rachel from Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to participate in this tour. This is my first book by Portia MacIntosh, but now that I've discovered this wonderful author, it won't be the last. Sadie Stuck On You Synopsis: Could a post-it note really lead to love...? Sadie doesn't have time for finding love. She's too busy as PA for famous artist Damian Banks. When she's not arranging exhibitions, she's organising his dry cleaning or dumping his never ending stream of girlfriends. But when she strikes up an unusual friendship with her desk share buddy, she finds a confidante and a new potential love interest. Problem is, they've never actually met... With Christmas just around the corner, can Sadie put herself first for a change and find what she's been looking for all along? The brand new romantic comedy from top 10 bestseller Portia MacIntosh. Perfect for fans of Sophie Ranald, Mhairi McFarlane and Zara Stoneley. Purchase Link My thoughts: Wow! This was such an enjoyable read! Sweet, funny, family-oriented, romantic, it has everything a great Christmas book should have and I definitely see myself re-reading it again in the future! Thirtytthree year old Sadie Kirke came to London hoping to find work in the art world. After a series of dead-end jobs, she became a PA to Damian Banks, a famous photographer. What she didn't know is that the job would literally involve organising Damian's life, including picking up his laundry, buying Christmas presents for his family, flathunting, arranging photoshoots with an alleged serial killer, and even breaking up gently with his girlfriend of the month (It's him, it isn't you!). Sadie is indispensible to Damian who isn't particularly liked by his employees (neither is Sadie, too close to the boss, better stay away from this one). The only moment of joy in her life is post-it notes from Adam, the guy she shares her office. Adam and Sadie are there on different days, so she's never actually met him. All she knows is that he is witty and thoughtful, and understands what a nightmare working for Damian is. To be fair, Damian is one of those super creative, cool artists who is definitely suffering from a creative slump, which can make even the most angelic of bosses insufferable. When Sadie applies for and gets her dream job of an art curator in a museum, she knows the person she is going to miss the most is going to be Adam. Should she take her chances and invite him out to see if their connection is real? and then there is a little problem of giving her notice to a man who has grown totally dependent on her to the extent of inviting himself to stay with her family over Christmas. Have you ever heard of anybody bringing her boss to meet her family during the holidays? Little does Damian know how seriously the Kirke family takes Christmas traditions.... I absolutely adored Sadie. She never takes herself too seriously, but actually she is one of those super-dependable people you would be lucky to be friends with. Kind-hearted, sweet, and funny, Sadie is the girl next door who always tries to understand and help other people. There is a moment back in her home town when she meets her childhood friend who is about to get married, open her business and start family, while Sadie is stuck in her single life with no time for herself. and yet, she doesn't complain when Damian tags along, she just tries to make him feel welcome or at least not too shocked by her family traditions. I won't give away any of them. Suffice it to say, for me, they are the best part of the book, elves' ears, Dickens Day or what not. Having said that, I really can't imagine Christmas Day without watching 'It's a Wonderful Life', so seriously, Damian, how come you've never seen it?!? Although it is hard to imagine, but Damian does grow on you in the course of the book, while Adam...well he's a kind of a miracle... Great secondary characters, lovely settings, witty banter, and absolutely no negativity. There is a lie (or two) by omission, but boy, do they feel guilty about not having come clean sooner rather than later. Sadie is not a hapless heroine who manages to get herself into cringeworthy situations. She is capable and confident, has a great sense of humour and strong family values, and, most importantly, her heart is in the right place, and it will tall her what to do when the right moment comes... I had such a great time reading it, that I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a feel-good, can't-stop-smiling Christmas rom-com that will definitely put you in a festive mood. Thank you to Rachel from Rachel's Random Resources for my place on this one-day blog blitz for the latest instalment in Maisie Clark's story from A Little Hotel in Cornwall series! Synopsis: Starry autumn nights are bringing a rare celestial event and exciting new guests to the shores of the sleepy hotel Penmarrow. Maisie is happy to be back among its staff, even with the question of its future ownership still in the air and the fate of her unpublished manuscript soon to be in the hands of London acquisitions editors. More than anything else, she’s happy to finally be in a relationship with Sidney Daniels, the sparks between them no longer denied. She’s excited for the future and things couldn’t be better with regards to romance … except for those lingering little questions about Sidney’s uncertain past, that is. Meanwhile, the staff at the Penmarrow is tasked with hosting a special celestial conference where stargazers are gathering for a glimpse of the much-anticipated comet. The ever-timid maid Molly is flustered by the return of charming astronomer George and seems to need a little advice on how to rekindle the spark they shared last autumn. Hotel porters Gomez and Riley vie for the attentions of a mysterious female guest, the eccentric ‘Megs’ Buntly pays another visit, and a dramatic revelation about someone on staff will leave Maisie and everyone else reeling from the unexpected news. Is this the moment for the revelation Maisie has been waiting for since her Cornish journey began? Brimming with humor, romance, and the kind of surprises its fans have come to expect, the seventh book in the series brings a twist at the end that’s sure to leave readers excited — and anxious — for the conclusion of Maisie’s original gorgeous Cornish adventure. Purchase Link My thoughts: If you are reading this review, chances are you are a fan of Laura Briggs and have been following the adventures of Maisie Clark, a charming American writer who found love and inspiration for her books in a little Cornish village. If this is the first time you hear about this series, it is probably better to start from the beginning and immerse yourself in the adventures of this undoubtfully eccentric, kind-hearted girl who believes in love, friendship, loyalty, and honest work. In the previous instalment Maisie finally sent off the manuscript of her first novel. Now as she is waiting for the first reactions, she is focussing on her second book- the story of Tam Lin. I loved her discussions on the writing process, creating believable protagonists with powerful motivations in order to draw the readers in and more: "...the point of art, the point of storytelling, is the same as the point of life - to touch somebody." Maisie knows she might never write the next Great American Novel, but writing is something she can't live without, it is her way of seeing the world. Isn't it something we all dream of? finding a job, a career, an all encompassing passion in life that becomes an essential part of us. Laura Briggs definitely writes about something she knows inside out - her own art and craft, the way a story takes hold in the writer's imagination, the choices a novellist has to make, dealing with doubts (Is it finished or should I hold to it for a bit longer?) and rejections from publishers (oh, yes, they do sting), but Maisie decides to write a fantasy book and she is more than capable of defending it: "Fantasy requires stretching the imagination backwards and forwards.' Maisie's relationship with Sydney is also developping. It isn't easy to keep up to the level of truthfulness and openness they chose to have. Maisie might not have much romantic experience or even clear ideas what she would like her relationship to be like, but she knows in Sydney she found a rare thing -somebody who understands her and likes her for who she is. The Penmarrow Hotel is as busy as ever with an astronomers' conference and other peculiar guests. The staff are waiting for the fate of the hotel to be decided as the owner has put it for sale. Other secrets are revealed and you get a feeling that we are getting closer and closer to the end of the story. I have my theories about who the elusive Allistaire Davies is and what Sydney's mysterious past might hold, but Laura Briggs is more than capable of shocking her fans with an unexpected twist or a surprising ending, so we'll just have to wait and see.The last book is coming out very soon, in October. Thank you to Rachel and the author for the gifted review copy. All opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way. About Laura Briggs: Laura Briggs is the author of several feel-good romance reads, including the Top 100 Amazon UK seller 'A Wedding in Cornwall'. She has a fondness for vintage style dresses (especially ones with polka dots), and reads everything from Jane Austen to modern day mysteries. When she's not writing, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, caring for her pets, gardening, and seeing the occasional movie or play.
