Shifted Magic
-- EXCERPT: Seriously, what was wrong with me? I’d only met Foster an hour ago, if that. I’d had an appreciation for attractive men before, but never so openly. Maybe this was part of the bond I wasn’t certain I could feel, or maybe I was just losing my damn mind. Possibly both. Foster’s hands hovered over my arms, his heat seeping through my long sleeves and straight to my core. “That wasn’t your fault. It’s just…your attraction to me, my wolf can sense it, and it’s a lot for us to handle.” “‘Us’?” I questioned. He moved closer to my ear, sending chills down my spine and speaking softly. “I consider my wolf a part of me. Sometimes it’s easier for me to refer to us as the same person. Sometimes not. He’s always been with me.” I turned around to face him and found him much nearer than I’d expected. Our chests were practically touching, and I did my best to think about naked old ladies and not about how much I wanted to trail my fingers over his muscled body.

Tam Doan dumped her boyfriend after he threw away her gourmet cheese. Sure, it’s a little more complicated than that, but the point is, he had it coming. Newly single and unemployed, Tam calls up her best friend from high school and utters the emergency code word—goldfish. Next thing she knows, she’s on a plane back home. Josh O’Malley was a troubled, unconfident teenager. Now he’s the successful owner of a multimillion-dollar ghost kitchen. Tam, his high school BFF and fellow member of the Nerd Herd friend group, was instrumental in building his self-esteem. When she calls him out of the blue, he jumps at the chance to return the favor. Josh and Tam immediately get to work fixing her life—but again, it’s complicated. Their close friendship was always a lifeline between them; a blooming romance might confuse things. Still, at least one thing is for certain: their chemistry is un-brie-lievable.Get Your Copy!About the Author:Cathy Yardley is an award-winning author of romance, chick lit, and urban fantasy, who has sold over 1.2 million copies of books for publishers like St. Martin's, Avon, and Harlequin. She writes fun, geeky, and diverse characters who believe that underdogs can make good and sometimes being a little wrong is just right. She likes writing about quirky, crazy adventures, because she's had plenty of her own: she had her own army in the Society of Creative Anachronism; she's spent a New Year's on a 3-day solitary vision quest in the Mojave Desert; she had VIP access to the Viper Room in Los Angeles. Now, she spends her time writing in the wilds of East Seattle, trying to prevent her son from learning the truth of any of said adventures, and riding herd on her two dogs (and one husband.)Connect with the Author:Twitter | Facebook | Pinterest | Instagram | NewsletterMy thoughts: Friends-to-lovers is hands down my favourite trope! There's nothing more romantic than two people who know each other in and out and would do anything to make the other one happy. Tam had a hell of a weekend at work and then caught her boyfriend cheating only to find out that he had thrown her super special, limited edition cheese. That's it! Can you, should you continue sacrificing your own happiness and your own dreams for someone who doesn't seem to know you at all ? goldfish, goldfish...Tam's secret word with which she calls for help of her best friend Josh in California. Somehow she finds herself on a plane going back to people who care about Tam finally standing up for heself and chasing her own bliss. Josh and Tam were such sweet characters! I loved the way he kept putting her well-being and her freedom to choose for herself first. First, I thought it was going to be a slow-burn love story, but then...well, sparks flew, the chemistry and tension were palpable and the fireworks went off to the joy of any reader who loves a hot, sizzling romance! Whether your friends are super important to you and you see them on a daily basis or perhaps life has happened and you drifted apart a bit, you will relate to Tam and Josh's Herd of Nerds and will admire their awesome support. If you love your romance to be a bit on a geeky side with a touch of spicy and lots of cheesy puns, you won't be able to put this down! Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo / Google Play -- EXCERPT: She was ready to leave. Seeing her like that the previous day, with the satchel full of clothes dangling from her hand, had been like a sucker punch to Justin’s gut. And everything that could go wrong if she left Chateau Briac on her own had passed before his eyes in that one moment. She’d be crippled by guilt and unable to feed. Unwilling to face Father Grégoire, she’d have no way to get the synth blood keeping her alive. Alone. In the city. Lost into her anguish. And once all the herbs had been used—because, of course, he would have given her all he had—she might turn so tormented that she would want to end it all. And unlike Val, it would be easy for her. Step outside on a bright day and remove the ring. That daylight ring hadn’t been easy to acquire. He had broken many of his rules that day, when he’d forcibly taken it from a burglar of magical artifacts passing through the French village where he’d attended a monk retreat for a few years. But it had been worth it, for her. And if she chose to remove it, after all these centuries since he’d slid the enchanted topaz on her finger, she would be gone. Just like that. In almost an instant. Embers scattered in the wind. His Emmeline.

GIVEAWAY! Seduction in Blood
Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / Google Play -- EXCERPT: “This particular job will put you in the heart of vampire society. High society. You’ll be mingling with the city’s most respected and most dangerous vampires. To fit in, you’ll need to have a particular look with discerning tastes. And you’ll need to eat what vampires eat.” I sat back, the grease of my breakfast threatening to revolt. He laughed. “I’m not asking you to drink blood wine. But I do expect you to eat nutritious, organic meals. Besides excellent hearing, we have a unique sense of smell.” He tapped his nose. “We can smell someone’s blood when they get close. We can tell its purity and the contents of their last meal. For example, if I were to meet with you in two hours, I’d know you had garlic and onion in your meal. It wouldn’t stop me from drinking your blood if I had a mind, but that very scent would tell another vampire that you probably don’t belong to anyone. I’m far too old to worry about having to drink very often, so I don’t keep humans in the house. But younger vampires require a drink more frequently. Even those a century old still keep humans close for feeding.” He shrugged. “They don’t need to; they just prefer the old ways.” He shook his head as if he found that disgusting. Perhaps just uncouth. Either way, it made me feel a little better. I shouldn’t have to worry about him sneaking into my room in the middle of the night looking for a sip. I reflexively rubbed my neck. He glanced down when his phone vibrated. His jaw clenched, and he held his cup so tightly, I thought it would shatter. Not good news. After a couple long minutes, he took a deep breath and turned to me, returning to our conversation as if never reading his message. “My point is, where we’ll be going, you’ll need to not only act the part but smell the part as well. Otherwise, no one will believe why you’re with me.” He stood. “I’m afraid I have something to attend to. Anna will start your training this morning. I should be back this evening for our session. A couple of rules for your stay here. You have the freedom of the yard, garden, and anywhere in the house on the first and second floors. The third floor is completely off-limits. Any questions before I leave?” I had a dozen, but it was obvious I wouldn’t have his full attention. And I preferred trying to get answers from Anna. “Just one.” He tucked the phone in his pocket then gave me his undivided attention. “What am I being trained for?” He gave me a slow perusal, and this time, it was more heated. The desire to squirm returned. Then, he gave me that million-dollar smile. “To be my human lover, of course.”
GIVEAWAY! From the Blurb: A new young adult novel from the critically acclaimed author of This Raging Light and Mayhem If you could erase all of your painful memories, would you? Blue Owens wakes up one day with the strangest feeling that something is very wrong. Everyone’s acting weird and she’s found a note in her closet telling her to get on the Little Blue Bus at 7:45, which she does, meeting up with the exact person she was supposed to avoid: Adam Mendoza. Even though she has no idea who he is, something about him is so familiar. When she confronts him, the truth is revealed—Blue has paid to have her memories removed, and Adam is one of those memories. As Blue struggles to piece together her history, she is torn between her desire to know why she would do something so drastic and her fear of what she will find. Remember Me is the bold and beautiful story of a girl who must find the courage to face the demons of her past and reclaim her loved ones—even if it ruins her. Publisher: Wednesday Books Publication Date: March 22, 2022 ISBN 9781250261939, 1250261937 My thoughts:
Do you remember The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, a 2004 sci-fi romcom with Jim Carrie (one of his best roles ever), Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo and Elija Wood? If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you do- the cast is stellar and the story is one of the romantic ones I've ever seen in my life. So it's no wonder I jumped at the chance to read Remember Me, the new YA novel from Estelle Laurie, and I just loved it. It had the sweetness of young love and passion which knows no boundaries, the bitterness of learning that some things cannot be undone no matter what, the sadness of the heartbreak and the awesomeness of a very clever book. The protagonist of Remember Me Blue Owens wakes up one day and find that everything around you feels a bit off and everyone is behaving strangely. She finds a note asking her to get on a bus where she meets Adam. It is clear from other people's reactions they have history, but what is it and why can't she remember any part of it? Blue finds out she underwent a special procedure designed to remove her painful memories. Gradually she manages to discover what happened and piece back together her fuzzy and fragmented world. This is obviously a concept-driven book (Would you erase your painful memories or are they and what we learnt from them an integral part of what we are?), but there is also an emotional punch. Make sure you check out the list of content warnings as some of the topics discussed in this book can be triggering. The characters are flawed as all humans are and quirky, which makes it all even more engaging. Thought-provoking and touching, the book is well-written and is definitely worth reading. Can't wait to read more from Estelle Laure! Thank you to NetGalley and Wednesday Books for the review copy provided in exchange for an honest opinion. Content warnings: The Only Man

GIVEAWAY! Mermaid of Sicily
Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Google Play / Kobo -- EXCERPT: Gia arrived at the base of the Eiffel Tower in disguise. An auburn wig, a pair of large sunglasses, and a wooly cap hid her identity. She approached the brown awning of the Jules Verne restaurant with supreme caution, hyper vigilant of her surroundings and potential threats. It was then that she was met at the front door by two of Q’s men. “Are you here for Signor Mosca?” one asked. “Unfortunately,” Gia chirped, sarcasm thick in her voice. “This way.” As they entered the restaurant, Gia discovered that Q had paid enough money to clear the place out completely. How much had that set him back? People waited months for a reservation—it couldn’t have been easy to compensate all those angry patrons overnight. The men escorted Gia into the glass elevator. As it rose, they passed through level after level of the brown iron that Mr. Eiffel had twisted himself. The men took Gia all the way to a table that was situated in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. “Thank you gentlemen,” Q said, patting them on the back. “I have asked the chef to set up a table for the two of you in the kitchen. Please enjoy your meal. We will come to you when we are ready to go.” He shuffled toward Gia and took her hand in his. Gia resisted the urge to pull away, her stomach lurched in revulsion to his touch. “Signorina Acquaviva, I have been looking forward to spending time with you since we met in Athens…”
